Visionaries Rest and Take Breaks
Tuesday Jul 12, 2022
Tuesday Jul 12, 2022
Today’s topic is a continuation of the discussion about rest from the July Spirit Messages. I felt like I needed to do a brief introduction today for my new Spirit School listeners! I'm Danielle Searancke, also known as the Squamish Medium. I am a Swampy Cree First Nations Indigenous woman, living in the Cosalish mountain towns of Squamish, British Columbia with my two kids and my incredibly skeptical and supportive husband.
I have been developing in mediumship since 2013 and went public with my practice in 2017. I launched and initiated Spirit School, which is this podcast, an online school, and now a community, in 2018. I went full-time into my practice three weeks before the pandemic, in 2020. I didn't realize until about four years into my development how lonely I felt on my development path. So, that was why I started Spirit School, the podcast. It's still my intention to be raw, real, and authentic with you, as you witness me grow into an entrepreneur and an international medium through the time capsule of this podcast.
Until last week, my paid membership was the only way to be in community with me. I know that free Facebook groups bring people to your paid offerings, but they never sat right with me. Last year, my students started asking for a community away from Facebook, and it felt like it was time. My team and I have spent over 100 hours building a platform off of social media.
I have more people listening to the podcast than on my social media platforms, so the new platform includes a free space for me to finally connect with my Spirit School listeners! We just completed a 5-Day live Spirit Guide Challenge last week to strengthen our connection to our guides. You can access the replays when you join using the links below!

- Allowing space for integration propels my development more than continuous workshops
- Human experiences propel you in ways that spiritual development can’t
- I’ve taken a break from paid readings and more details come through in demonstrations
- I have been building the foundation for Spirit School and not doing any intentional development
- I’m ready to start doing online and in person demonstrations now
- Without any inquiries or talking about them, my readings for July sold out after 7 months off
- I’m confident going into these sessions knowing I’ve given myself time to rest
- Deeper development happens in times of rest than forcing myself to stay in the craft
- Every time you bring yourself back to this work after a human experience is an initiation
- Ride the flows and honour the ebbs by sinking back into slowness and space
- When we overstimulate ourselves, we only absorb a small percentage of what we consume
- Check out Shawn Ginwright and his social justice work, including his insights on rest as privilege
- In our western society, we are kept busy in hustle culture so we don’t think for ourselves
- Community is central to our happiness but our societal structure doesn’t support it
- Rest and peace are the greatest resistance to fight against the current structure
- Can you reserve the last hour of your day for rest and being a visionary?
- We carry the need to keep moving over to our spiritual development
- I have taken four huge times of rest and I’ve only seen an incline in my career
- See rest as what we need to receive inspirations for where to go next as a collective
- For the first time, I feel that we will see big societal change in my lifetime
- We need people in the middle ground, not the extreme, to envision our collective future
- How do we create a way of being that allows space for constant visioning?
- I acknowledge the privilege and financial freedom I have to be that visionary
- If a lot of us create privilege by resting for the last hour of the day, we can show resistance
- We need people in the opposite energy using their anger and their voices too
